People who live in the Kitchener-Waterloo area volunteer with KDCHC to help shape the work we do. Volunteers help to organize special events, provide peer outreach and support, participate on working groups to help shape public policy, assist with office tasks, advise KDCHC and others on what’s important in the local community, and serve on KDCHC’s Board of Directors. See below for how can you be involved. The Volunteer Program encourages and supports 150+ clients and community members to work with KDCHC in making the community a healthier place.

KDCHC volunteers serve on working advisory groups focused on Seniors, Mental Health and Homelessness among others. They also provide peer support through programs like Breastfeeding Buddies, Growing Up Downtown & Living on a Survival Budget. KDCHC volunteers help write newsletters such as Street Voice, maintain our resource collection of books and videos, and assist with specific tasks such as clerical support and maintaining our recycling program.
